Hello Tyrannosaurus, Meet Tyrannicide

 Godzilla Tee from Dangerfield
Stripe Leggings from eBay
Cardigan from Summer Hill
Chain from Colette
Creepers by Demonia

I wore this outfit once to uni and just got around to photographing it today, because I'm a serial outfit repeater (sometimes it's just laziness and knowing I've got something that works well) and I was heading out to get myself some lunch. I'm currently on university holidays til the end of July so if I don't have anyone taking an outfit photo for me, it'll be me and my lovely wall (there's not many interesting backdrops in suburbia). I've also got a couple of days left of being 18, as my birthday is on Saturday and I've been contemplating where my life will be going for the past two weeks. I've never liked that about birthdays.

I've had these striped leggings for a while now and haven't worn them out til I wore this. I find it a bit hard to style sometimes and feel a bit stupid with stripey legs. I'd take striped jeans over leggings any day, but I've yet to find a pair that fits. If you're ever interested in striped jeans, I think Motel has the best pair, but sadly their smallest size is an 8. I've even ignored my creepers for a while too, because I'm a bit tired of them now and seeing them everywhere  and as you can tell I really need to fix up the piping because that's the obvious indicator that they're heading towards death. I really love this tee that I bought from the Dangerfield Men's section (I got it for a killer deal of $10 as well!). Always check out the guys stuff, because they really have some of the best graphics. I was cutting out the collar when I accidentally followed the line down to the shoulder and now have safety pins holding it together because I'm terrible at sewing. And lastly, here is a silly little outtake:

Melbourne (II)

I didn't take as many Polaroids as I thought, but I wanted to share a few from my trip to Melbourne from last month!
This was in a side street near the hostel we were staying at.

I loved the architecture so much in Melbourne, especially these Victorian (are they Victorian? super old I guess) style buildings.

I think this was the dark alleyway we had our mini "exhibition" (aka putting up pictures in an alley where nobody really passes through), near Chinatown.

First Polaroid I took in Melbourne! View from our window.

A front yard in Fitzroy

Fitzroy, again.
We had to do this thing where we were looking for Thomasson's and this is the closest I came, with these locked up cupboards on the wall all the way up to the ceiling and they were free of dust and nice and neat and mhm. Such a painful task.
This exit sign pointed to an exit sign that was pointing to it, though I couldn't get it in one frame.

Summer Hill Thrift Haul

I've gone Summer Hill twice during the semester and thought I'd share what I bought. I'm going to have it set up here so first up is the stuff I got when I went in my mid semester break and then what I picked up last week. They're still at $8/kg if you're in Sydney and ever interested in going down. I feel like Saturdays are still the better day because they open up more of the store, but you have to get in there early!!

So first up is what I picked up during my mid semester break. I just cleared in the $8/kg minimum and bought five things here, and it's one of strange rituals my friend and I do where we count how many things we got and find out how much each thing is separately. Here I got each item for roughly $1.30. Mhmm. This was also the day I awkwardly ran into my tutor and... let's get into this haul yeah? (p.s. sorry for my photos, I wanted to be neat but I'm in this phase where I don't want to touch a camera for a while).

Perhaps I should've ironed this before taking the photo... this was originally longer but I gave it the chop (also cause the bottom half had this gross stain).

I can't believe I managed to get this bag... it was my staple for when we were going out in Melbourne and is just perfect. I've seen vintage stores sell bags like these for a good $50 more than I purchased it.
My second haul is from last week and the place was a bit cleared out because we got there a bit late. This was one of the worst days for me because I found these cute tan ankle boots in which I couldn't find the other pair, and a pair of loafers that were marked a 7 1/2 but were clearly a 3 (they were so tiny!!!) and I went on with cursing my feet forever and ever. This came in at 2kg, so everything was roughly around $2.30 each.. (I blame the jacket for being heavy but still !!!)

This is the coolest jacket ever! It has detachable sleeves where you can turn it into a vest and so many pockets (including secret ones on the inside), so I'm pretty sure it's a boy's jacket because I have yet to see this done to women's clothing (put multiple pockets in things, inside and out) and urgh. I love it to death.

I am loving everything about 90s sporty style clothing, but have yet to warm up to actual exercise.

Apparently this is part of an old David Jones uniform (or at least that's what my dad told me) and I actually thought it was super sick because my eyes read it as hounds-tooth or something v 60s-esque and now I am unsure about it all...

I'll try and float these into some outfit posts which I've been ignoring for a while.. it got a little busy the past two weeks as we were on the headless chicken run for our photographic intervention majors which were displayed at an exhibition that was just on Friday (which was actually super fun, if you want to know how it went I might make a post...). I'm currently on holidays now with no exams aside from a major essay that's due in a week. And at the end of next week it'll be my birthday which is super exciting as well (well not really) and then June will be over and I honestly have no idea where half my year has gone.

Hope you liked the stuff I found over my last two trips. I'm planning to go nice and early next weekend and get my hardcore thrift on to find jackets and such because it's so cold now and yep, I"m rambling in my outro.

Gemini

You don't know, I've got nothing to say anymore
It's a shame I know, we're perfectly in loathe.

Number 93 jersey top from Chicabooti
Chain from Colette
American Apparel Disco Pants
Socks from Cotton On
Thrifted military boots

Monochrome and jersey tops are my favourite thing in the world, because it requires absolutely no effort to look like you've put in some effort. I really was super keen on getting the beloved by many jersey tee from Topshop though the fact they had not yet released the petite or black version (well, when I went in a few weeks back, I think it's in now) in the Sydney store and the price put me off. I'm fairly low on the $$ at the moment, I almost left my card in the ATM yesterday because I laugh-cried at my pitiful bank balance (which is now at 55c, it's a sad life). Anyway, back to the shirt... I'm actually waiting for Glassons to bring their customized jersey pop up store because I would buy my weight in jerseys, but up until that one fateful day, this jersey at almost a third of the price will do. Oh, and the number is just one year off me reppin' my actual birth year of 1994. I was actually supposed to have an older sibling (brother, I'm sure) who was to be born a year ahead of me in 1993, and whilst on birth talk, I was also born a week late pushing me onto the cusp (apparently so, I'm not too sure actually) of Gemini/Cancer. The extra cooking time did not help, though I'm not too sure how I would've been as a Gemini. Though the title has somewhat to do with this, but more to do with another Wild Nothing song, because I'm so very, very obsessed. (I also don't think I'll ever stop doing this with my socks either)

So I Disappear Always

Camo crop top from Stand Out Vintage
Thrifted cardigan
Jeans from ASOS
The BLOQ Boot by YRU from Wildpair
Chain necklace from Colette
(Photos by my awesome friend Giselle!)

So yesterday we went out to Cockatoo Island for class (yeah I know, pretty random) to talk about our ideas for the major project we have coming up for photography. We were really lucky that it warmed up and I spent the majority of the ferry ride complaining about the sun glaring into my goth face, until it actually got cold. It was super awesome (and by that I mean really calm) but I wished we ended up exploring the island again because the last time I went was back in high school and I have this very faint memory of the trip that was three years ago.
I got this crop top from a giveaway on Stand Out Vintage's tumblr page, whom you should go check out because they stock some seriously cool pieces that are at really good prices too (yeah, it's enough for me to just up and leave Australia). I was waiting around to find a pair of black overalls (I was thinking in a cord? material), alas the dungaree trend is only in its beginning stages down here so I put the overall hunt on the back burner and paired the crop with my super cozy cardigan from a thrift store just off Oxford Street with my trusty black jeans and YRU platform boots (I really need to invest in more of their shoes) and a chain necklace I got over the weekend in a half off sale at Colette. I'm horrid with jewelry but I thought it was fine time I buy a chain because it's actually one of the easiest things to wear. Brain power used- none.
Anyway back to Cockatoo Island... I didn't get to take many pictures... actually I barely took any of my surroundings because we were just in one little area but if you ever go there you'll see lots of industrial type things and obviously the ocean!

And as a side note, I'm really digging (read: completely obsessed) with Wild Nothing at the moment, hence the title today which comes from Disappear Always. Kind of felt like melting into the ocean/island because it was so peaceful.

Melbourne (I)

Here are some of my favourite photographs I took whilst on my trip to Melbourne... I posted the reblog-ble versions on my Tumblr which you can find here. Hope you enjoy these!
