Today's post is my first outfit of 2013 and I feel like I'm paying homage to the fact that my physical appearance will never leave the realms of secondary schooling. I'm about to go into my second year of university, though it will be at a new university and course (so I'm a first year at uni again), one that I'm so grateful to be a part of, but also scared because I really don't want to fall flat on my face. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doomed for outfits that scream- "I'm 15, wanna play in a sandpit?". I mean at five foot nothing, it's not like my height is making me look my ripe old age of 18 and a half? 3/4? I'll be 19 in June and nothing demands treat-me-like-an-adult-even-though-I-don't-look-like-one than a Sailor Moon backpack. Not that I care too much because I've loved Sailor Moon ever since I was in the nappy/toddler stage- I even broke off one of the legs to my sister's Sailor Mercury doll and threw it over the fence into what was our very own Australian Outback style thing of trees and stuff (it's true love. no?). I seem to have this word-vomit in my posts lately so I'll just talk about my bored 'pre-teen' self.
ooh I'm so entertained with life, this is my bitch face that is quite accidental

I actually cut up an old raglan top I bought from Factorie three years ago and just recently cut off the bottom to make it a bit more flattering on myself considering I got a couple of sizes to large to have an oversized fit. I was thinking about also cutting off the sleeve cuffs because they really are quite long but I actually like folding it over my wrists. My jeans are the same pair I featured in my last outfit post and I'm glad I didn't get rid of them because they're just the most amazing pair of 90s esque jeans with such a flattering fit and I feel like I'll be buying into the boyfriend/straight leg/distresseed denim just because I wear second skin jeans waaaay too much and even though I manage to fit thick velvet leggings underneath those, these will have greater layering opportunity considering I get so damn cold in the autumn/winter (when it is cold, and not a sweltering 40 degrees as today). My boots are one of my favourite you-didn't-spend-too-much-money shoe purchases last year as I only paid $18 for these real leather/suede shoes. They were originally $150 and no way in my life would I have ever paid the original price, but one day I went into glue and found a size 37 for me to squish my feet into. I'm actually a 38 or 39 in Asian shoe sizing, and they didn't have the other foot for my actual size so I crammed my feet into them and deemed them 'fit to stretch' which they have now a year on, but initially caused me quite a bit of blisters. I'm one of those people who will stick with something if I can make it work, at whatever cost. I have worn these shoes so much that they're this super worn out colour now and super grungy.
Lastly, I paired this with a pastel pink Sailor Moon backpack which seems to have disappeared from Etsy ): Here is a closer look at the bag. I took this picture back in July last year when I first got it and it's from my tumblr:
Yessss.... well, it's super hot today and I'm dying from the heat. Coming back from -2 to 15 degree weather to 25 to 40 degree weather is just... too much for my poor soul. Oh, and on more side, the new Foals album Holy Fire! came out today and I have a new favourite aside from My Number called Milk & Black Spiders which I can't find to link anywhere but if you're a fan go check it out now! I'm fairly sure worldwide it's released on the 11th but came out today in Australia.
I also have found these amazing Coltrane look a likes with gold buckles instead for a lovely $80 and the only reason why I haven't spontaneously combusted is because I'm going to (hopefully) try to snag a pair tomorrow for it is the weekend and I have yet to buy my university supplies such as clothes (yes, it's a supply), shoes, bags and stationery.
Oh and I'd love to hear any thoughts you want to send my way and if you like my little outfit, you can hype it on lookbook here!
Til next time,
- Ayesha
